Update 22.02.18

 

Update 22.02.18 is now available and has the following content:

1. The continuation of the events with the box you got from Bristol in the content of the previous update. You start the event by interacting with the box in your bedroom.

2. You can now access the war system alpha test via the cheat book in your bedroom.
The system isn't done yet, by far, but serves as a proof of concept to show you what to expect. It's mainly missing a lot of dialogs to show the story of the war for each country, and the vanguard battles in Begus and Dorgania.
The main idea is that you either have a lot of vanguard battles that you can take part in, or dialog and choice based battles, for people that don't like the vanguard battle system.
Please note that all dialogs and events in the war system might get changed later.  

What is already included in the war system test?
- Movement of Centrals ATK forces.
- Vanguard battles against Amagal, including a two step siege battle against Manastyr.
- You can get the following vanguard items from the war battles in Amagal: Quick Sword, Mithril Dagger, Magic Dagger, Magic Bow, Crystal Rod, Steel Hammer, Good Horse, Nromal Armored Horse, Great Light Armor, Great Medium Armor, and Great Heavy Armor.
- Replay option for all battles.
- Shop to replace the caravan. The shop is always available.
- AP system (Action Points)
- Simplified battle against opponents when you select to leave the battle to the army.
- Little flags appear on conquered locations.
Gimmicks:
- On the command center screen, you can set how much percent of your forces are designated to different locations. If the value of ATK forces at Amagal are 10% or lower, you have a 25% chance to lose the battle at the Yin Tower when you leave the fighting to your army.
- When you had Dai-Xinyue's first scene, you can ask for the help of her hellhounds during the battle at the barracks in Amagal. It has a 25% chance to go wrong though. (Doesn't affect anything at the moment.)
- Dialogs or events at turn 3, 5 and 6. These will be a lot more, and to some degree randomized, in the future.
- Option to attack Dorgania over the sea.
- Ambush when you attack the 2nd troops of Dorgania with the ATK forces near Thremten. The wrong choice will cost 1 additional AP.
- When you advance the ATK troops in the south of Dorgania, they'll start a counter attack.
- When you advance the ATK troops in the south of Begus, they'll start a counter attack.

Features for the war system that aren't done yet:
- All vanguard battles in Begus, Dorgania, and Central, with more special features and boss enemies.
- Events about or affected by the fortification you can build.
- Events affected by the finances screen variables, for example happiness could give you +1 AP.
- More enemy attacks.
- More ways that you can lose battles.
- More story events and choices.
- Events for siege against capitals, with meaningful choices for the player.
- Events about Varea in Amagal, if she is Queen, and how Chiyo reacts.
- Events about Queen Appelia and the Church in Begus.
- Events about the rebels in Dorgania during the war, and how your choices with them affect the war.
- Attacks of bandits or enemy forces within Central.
(Vanguard fight or use 2-3 AP to solve battle. Ignore = 1 DEF troop lost.)
- More events with named side characters or from special locations, for example:
Kurohime, Pumumu, Redwood family, Orchel, Sia, Spirits.
- Effect of breaking the non-agression treaty with Dorgania. (-1 max AP?)

- Events for the preparations before the war, and what they affect during the war.
(For example increase of max AP)
- Events for when a war is won.
- Event for when ALL wars are done.
- Event for when you reach the deadline.

Things to affect events during the war:
- Construction of watchtowers.
- Army percentages set at the command center screen.
- Army skill and equipment level.
- Fortification.
- Production of food like fish, meat, cheese and so on improved the gain of supplies -> Chance for extra AP? Or a moral boost when your moral gets too low?
- Production of furniture and such luxury items will increase the war support -> Chance for extra AP? Or a moral boost when your moral gets too low?

Please let me know if the war battles in Amagal are too hard or too easy, or if the balancing is okay.

Update 22.01.28

 

Update 22.01.28 changes:

- Added an exchange system for the vanguard's artifacts to the caravaan which appears every few turns in front of Aldlyn on the overview map.
- When you're on the route to help Mike and the rebels in Dorgania, you get three new quests from him. The last quest leads to a CG scene with Sinrul.
[This scene will also become available on the government route of the events in Dorgania in a future update.]
- 2 new items become available in during one of the new quests with Mike: Stinky Lotion protects you from random encounters for 100 steps, and the Obedience Drug will preserve your TPs for the next battle for 50 steps.
- "Monster Repel Perfume" protects you from random encounters for 50 steps and can be bought from the herbalist in Aldlyn. (It's the weaker version of the Stinky Lotion)
- New armor "Stinky Coat" can be bought in Calterburry.
- "Safety Shoes" can now be bought in Kagabangui.
- "Talisman of Preservation" can be bought in Crysthaven, until Elly's events are advanced so far that the trader disappears. It can also be found in a chest in the prison in Luolambo.
- Fixed a bug with Nina's event.
- Added an anti-frustration system to the spike riddle during the second attack against the assassins with Flaire and her thieves. The system will automatically disable all spikes after you failed too often.
- New event when you talk with Trey at the sleeping chambers. Requires the laboratory on the overview map built, the vanguard battle system to be unlocked, the first appearance of female Ryen at the bathhouse, and the sex scene with Kavrala.
- The laboratory in Central now has a proper map, and can be entered via the worldmap after it was built.
- You can buy a scroll to increase Ryen's eloquence by 3 in Lalizan and Siriveta now.

Update 22.01.12 changes:

Changes:
- When you talk with Nina in the bakery, you can pay 2,000 gold for a group baking lesson. The more party members you have, the more chaotic the entire event gets.
Afterwards, you have the option to "come back alone later" when you re-enter the bakery from outside. This options starts a CG scene with Nina.
- New events with Jaylin and Kayelinth, which start when you talk to Jaylin in the treasury (stairs down in the top center of the sleeping chambers, next to Kayelinth). Requires that you built Kayelinth's farm, and that you had the events to unlock Ryen's dragonic powers.

- To ensure that there is no display error with the army and equipment level in the command center screen, the value is now corrected when you re-enter the screen.
It's possible that you have to re-do the elite training if the value got broken for you earlier, as the system used the value of the army skill level to save if the training is done.
- I replaced the CGs of Jaylin's first encounter with her new full body CGs. The old CGs weren't replaced because I didn't like them, but the old artist isn't around anymore. So in order to make more variations of her full body images, I needed to replaced them. The old CGs can still be seen in the CG room.

Update 21.12.20

 A few small changes and bug fixes for version 21.12.20:

- Fixed a bug with Kurohime's new scene
- Fixed a bug with Wendy's third squad ability. It was endlessly available and unlocked Kurohime's third ability.
- Added background music to the deep mine.
- The CC is now accessible from the worldmap.
- Fixed a bug that caused the arena to be re-build after you constructed the archery range or university.
- Added a note to the difficulty choice in vanguard battles to explain that the choice does not change the rewards.
- Added a more detailed explanation about how to recruit Kurohime to the vanguard forces to the walkthrough.

Since several people has asked about these things:
- In order to recruit Kurohime as a squad leader, you need to tell Theremis to prepare a war against Dorgania, and you need to advance the events of Grey to have the meeting with Lady Akira.
If all necessary conditions are met, and Kurohime is in your service, a spy mission will become available at Luolambo on the country overview map. This spy mission unlocks her as a squad leader.
- The second archery training event on the command center screen does not only require 2 elvish artifacts, you also need to recruit Wendy as squad leader, and Mirel and Elly need to be in your party.

Update 21.12.18

 

 Update  21.12.18

- Added "University" and "Archery range" construction projects to the overview map.
- The invitation to the Spire of Courage challenge floor now appears on the Aldlyn city board after finishing the advanced floor in the Spire, regardless of whether or not you encountered Hellhound in it.
- I created a new screen for the command center building, with the status of your army and some new options to improve your forces. It can be accessed from the overview map.
The events on this screen for the fortification of your borders and for the intel on other countries don't exist yet.
- The "declare war" option in the dialog with Theremis was changed to "prepare for war" and can be triggered now. This has no effect for Amagal and Begus yet. For Dorgania it'll unlock a spy mission with Kurohime. (also requires the event with Lady Akira to be advanced)
- 8 new squad leaders. You get hints in the command center for where you can recruit the new squad leaders.
- New event with Mai and Dea. After talking with the baker girl Nina at the bakery in Central (which you can build on the overview map), the scene starts automatically when you walk out of the bakery. (Requires that you had Dea's first sex scene, and that Mai is on her good path)
This scene will also unlock the christmas special area. If Mai is on her bad path for you, you can't unlock the scene at the bakery. Instead, you can replay the scene via the CG room if her bad path is far enough, and unlock the christmas area that way.
- For the christmas special, several new dungeons, riddles, special battles, items and legendary equipment were added to the game.
A special feature in the christmas area is a slot machine system, where you can get a bunch of different rewards in return for tokens.
- A new vanguard bonus battle was added. It's random which of the two bonus battles you get when you start the mission.
The new map has the special feature that as long as a certain enemy mage squad is alive, a random vangaurd squad takes 5 damage at the start of the turn from long range fire magic.
- New CG scene with Kurohime available on the overview map (in the forest east of Aldlyn) after recruiting her as a squad leader.


Small changes:
- After talking with Flaire for the first time at the thieves guild hideout, the hidden stair in the storage in Thremten will have the dialog option to bring you directly to the hideout, instead of forcing you to walk through the sewer area again.
- You don't receive hammer and scythe items anymore during Kayelinth's secret garden events, to avoid filling your inventory with unnecessary stuff. Both can be sold for 20,000 gold now, so that you can get rid of them in save files where you already obtained them.
- I greatly reduced the insignia costs of items in the special shop of the Spire of Courage.
- Slightly changed to inside of the castle in Manastyr, to make the entrances to some doors at the bottom of the hallway more obvious, since people sometimes missed the entrance to Varea's room.
- Fixed the spelling mistake of "relationships" in the skilltrees.
- The new item "Love Letter" gives +10 relationship, without limitation.

Renryuu: Ascension is now officially available on Steam!
The Steam version is the SFW version of the normal releases. There will be no extra content or earlier releases on Steam. The main purpose of the Steam version is to give people that don't like SubscribeStar an additional way to support my work. The normal NSFW version of the game will remain available for free at all times.
[A SFW into NSFW version patch is available in the SFW version sub-folder of the MEGA download link.]


In order to prepare the christmas special, and to advance the vangaurd and army features to get them ready for the future addition of the war system, the next update will be bigger than usual and therefore take a while longer.
I'm aiming for a release in mid December, with a potential second part of the christmas special in the following update around the end of December.

- After finishing all previous events with Mike for the rebellion in Dorgania, or Sinrul to help the government, you can now trigger a new event with rebels when you enter Minsk Harbour from the worldmap.
The event will advance the story about the rebellion, and give you a quest at the end, which can't be finished yet.
- After the events with the rebels at Minsk Harbour, if you've advanced the main story far enough, you can find Negi near the entrance of Minsk Harbour. He'll start events about Lucilla, with an optional CG scene.
- New anubis character sprite images
- [After her class change to Berserker, Vampire can now use whip class weapons.]
- Added the notes [Good path] and [Evil path] to the choices for Irinlia after her events at Millwater, to make it clearer, which choice gets you on which path.
- Updated the skilltree background images for Ryen, Trey, and Brad, so that they show the full body CGs now instead of the face images of the characters.
- Added Honey as possible drops from hornet monsters. [I know that it would make more sense with Bees, but I only have hornet monsters at the moment.]
- Added the item Mead, which can be crafted with Red Wine and Honey when you have the Green Cooking Book.
Mead can be consumed to recover 30% MP of all party members during and outside of battles, but has a 50% chance to make the targets tipsy.
- Added the item "Hellhound dungeon map" to the area in front of the hellhound village, to make finding the entrance/exit easier.
- The menu isn't disabled anymore when you enter the dungeon before the hellhound village.
- The chief of Ebron will now auto trigger his events about showing you the way to Ebron when you enter the blacksmith in Aldlyn with Mirel in your group. He'll also bring you directly to Ebron, without waiting for you in the corner of Aldlyn first.
